透水磚其實是從國外傳入的，透水磚起源于荷蘭,在荷蘭人圍海造城的過程中，發(fā)現(xiàn)排開海水后的地面會因為長期接觸不到水分而造成持續(xù)不斷的地面沉降。一旦海岸線上的堤壩被沖開，海水會迅速沖到比海平面低很多的城市把整個臨海城市全部淹沒。為了使地面不再下沉，荷蘭人制造了一種長200毫米寬100毫米50或60毫米高的小型路面磚鋪設(shè)在街道路面上，并使磚與磚之間預(yù)留了2毫米的縫隙。這樣下雨時雨水會從磚之間的縫隙中滲入地下。這就是后來很有名的荷蘭磚。

In order to prevent the ground from sinking, the Dutch created a small pavement brick that was 200 millimeters long, 100 millimeters wide, 50 or 60 millimeters high, and laid on the street surface, leaving a gap of 2 millimeters between the bricks. When it rains like this, rainwater will seep into the ground through the gaps between the bricks. This is the later famous Dutch brick.
